Switzerland is a small market with outsized companies. Nestlé, Roche and Novartis together account for a major share of the SMI, so the index tells you more about three balance sheets than about the Swiss economy. An investor who reads the SMI as a national barometer draws the wrong conclusion roughly every earnings season.
The broader SPI includes most listings on SIX and corrects part of that distortion. Reading both, side by side, is what separates a structural move from a single pharmaceutical release. That distinction is the backbone of every edition we publish.
The SIX Swiss Exchange opens continuous trading at 09:00 CET and closes at 17:20, with a closing auction that sets the official price. Swiss companies publish results before the open, which is why a pre-open brief is worth more than an evening summary: by the time European markets are running, the reaction is already priced.
Swiss Market Pro lands at 06:30 CET, before that window. It covers what was announced overnight, what is scheduled for the day, and where the franc and the SNB sit — with a link to each original filing rather than a paraphrase of it.
Switzerland levies 35% withholding tax at source on dividends. A non-resident investor recovers part or all of it through the double taxation treaty between Switzerland and their country of residence, but the refund is a claim to file, not an automatic credit — and the recoverable share depends on the treaty, the shareholding and the investor type.
This is why a headline dividend yield on a Swiss blue chip rarely equals what actually lands in a foreign account. Editions covering dividends state the gross figure, the withholding, and the treaty position — because the gap between the three is where the real yield sits.
Swiss Market Open is the free weekly: the week ahead, Monday at 06:30 CET, for anyone tracking Switzerland from a distance. Swiss Market Pro is the daily pre-open desk note, for people who trade or allocate before SIX opens. The Desk Licence covers up to ten named seats, adds exportable data behind each screen, and includes one commissioned briefing per quarter.
The yearly rate works out at ten months paid for twelve. Every plan cancels in one click, effective at the end of the current period, with no reason required and no fee. The free weekly stays available with no time limit.
Stock-Market.ch publishes general financial information. It is not investment advice, not portfolio management, and not a recommendation adapted to any individual situation. Those activities sit inside a regulated framework in Switzerland, with licensing and supervision requirements that an editorial publication is not subject to and does not claim.
In practice: no wealth data is collected, no price target is presented as a certainty, and no edition tells a reader to buy or sell. Facts, inference and uncertainty are kept apart on the page. For advice that accounts for your situation, objectives and risk tolerance, speak to an authorised financial services provider.
Swiss Market Open lands every Monday at 06:30 CET. Same desk, same sourcing, shorter format — enough to judge the work before paying for it.
